Board: Nidecker Platinum

Size: 159

Camber Option: Good old fashioned positive camber, and a fair amount of it. I really shouldn’t have to explain this.

Bindings: K2 Lien AT

Stance: Goofy, 21in wide, 15/-3

Boots: Ride Fuse

My Weight: 155lbs

Resort: A-Basin

Conditions: After a semi-recent storm with pockets of softer snow and lots of uneven terrain that was baked and a little firm.

Flex: Stiff. Stiffer nose, stiffened up through the middle, with a stiff tail. Overall a pretty beefy flex that took some manhandling to perform. Torsional flex matched the rest.

Stability: Relatively stable, it is stiffer and camber after all. The Nidecker nose flap at high speed continues with this board as well, but with this one it does actually get to your foot and can make things feel a bit skippy pushing hard through a turn with your weight a little forward. Keeping your weight a little more centered or slightly on the back foot to keep off the nose helps keep things a little more under control

Ollies/Pop: Takes work. There is some snap there, but it’s not very special and you really gotta load the camber to get to it. Overall just lacking.

Butterability: Nah. Not fun. It’s doable but not really much there to actually have fun with or enjoy.

Carving: The shining attribute to this board is its edgehold. Pushing through the tail as you come through a turn it does not let go. Keep your weight off the nose and it won’t lose grip. Long carves are definitely where it likes to be, medium radius are fine, short quick turns take good amount of effort to load and unload the camber to get it to snap from edge to edge.

Rider in Mind: They call it an “advanced all mountain board”. Definitely fits the bill for an all mountain charger.

Personal Thoughts: This board just wasn’t all that good. It does hold a mad edge, but the effort to get any snap or to make quicker short turns just was not worth what it gave back in return. A chore to ride with little life or energy.
