Conditions: Overcast skies with the occasional pocket of blue, cold temps, high winds at times, chop, chunder, spring pow with a little moisture in it, and crunchy groomers.
Flex: This has that standard run of the mill middle of the road flex. Softer tips with a stiffer mid section where the flat portion of the camber is and a ton of torsional flex. Overall it’s a playful yet responsive flex.
Stability: The width really adds to the stability of this board. You just notice how smooth this board rides on a groomer and when you get into chop the rocker section does get bucked around which causes some of that energy to reverberate underfoot but the flat section stays suctioned to the ground.
Ollies/Pop: The snap is there but not overly mind blowing. It’s so easy to engage as it’s a flat to rocker so it just has skate like pop.
Butterability: The tips sometimes catch when you get sideways and spin you around, especially if you’re really pressing into them. When you do lock into a butter this board wants to revert right out so be aware of that.
Carving: There’s limitations with this board. You’ll notice right away when you’re sitting on the tail of the board and swooping from one side of the run to the other it just won’t let you push into it and go deeper. It can handle mellow carves and set up turns with ease. I did find the tail would kick out on steeper terrain with a more aggressive carve.
Rider in Mind: Volume shift loving pow chasing freestyler.
Personal Thoughts: They market this as good for both pow and park, it’s a volume shift deck but it’s main focus is always going to be powder. The flex is friendly for freestyle but this wouldn’t be my first choice unless it was a powder park day. When carving there are limitations with this deck so be aware of that.
