Ayumu Hirano, the champion of Dew Tour Copper Mountain 2023, successfully defended his title at Dew Tour Copper Mountain 2024. He faced stiff competition from fellow Japanese snowboard star Yuto Totsuka and American Lucas Foster, who surprised with a podium finish. The competition was intense, with the top five riders all scoring in the 90s.

Hirano set the tone early, leading from Run 1 with a score of 95.33. His signature move, the frontside triple cork 1440 to Cab double cork 1440 combo, wowed the judges and spectators alike. However, Totsuka made a strong comeback in Run 3, overtaking Hirano with a score of 96.33. Totsuka's run featured a switch backside double cork 1260 stalefish, a trick he had never before landed in competition.

Despite the pressure, Hirano delivered a flawless final run to clinch the win. His winning run included a Frontside triple cork 1440 with a truck driver, Cab 1440 Weddle, frontside 540 slob, backside 1260 Weddle, and frontside double cork 1260.
