Today is day one of the 7 day backcountry freestyle snowboard contest, Research and Development, going down at Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson, British Columbia. This event is being put on by Robin Van Gyn, and it will host 12 of the best up and coming backcountry riders to battle it out for a prize of 5k in cash and one seat for the Natural Selection tour in 2025.
The girls participating in this event include Naima Antolin, Katie Kennedy, Darrah Reid, Kaleah Opal, Madison Blackley, Marissa Krawczak, Melissa Riitano, Stefi Luxton, Emma Crosby, and more.
It is presented by and supported by the brands Burton Snowboards, Arc'Teryx, Yeti, Whitewater Ski Resort, Jones Snowboards, and Sierra Nevada.
We seriously can not wait to see the footage that comes out of this event. There have not been many events, if any, like this that are backcountry freestyle focused and female specific. We LOVE to see it!
