After an unprecedented cold and snowy spring in the Alps, some ski areas have seen their snow depths move back over the 4m mark with more than 1.2m (four feet) of snow falling in some areas. The number of ski areas open in the Alps at present can be counted on two hands without needing your thumbs, but those glacier resorts that are open are loudly reporting “Powder!” to anyone wanting to listen
