Ear pressure?

I have issues with ear pressure – ears don’t pop when in a plane (have to wear earplugs to regulate the pressure in my ears), sometimes riding in a fast elevator even clogs up my ears. We had been planning a trip out to CO and was wondering if there’s anyone else out there with the same issues and how the altitude there affects this
