The mayor of La Sambuy lamented in an interview with CNN, "Previously, we used to have snow from early December to late March," but last winter saw only "four weeks of snow, and even then, it was scarce...the slopes quickly revealed stones and rocks." Unfortunately, La Sambuy faced financial impracticality, staring at an approximate loss of €500,000 ($530,000).
The closure of these smaller, family-friendly ski resorts deals a significant blow to those in search of a more peaceful skiing experience and to the ski industry as a whole.
