Highbacks

This may seem like a very basic question but i’ve heard that you need to make your highbacks parallel to the heel edge of your board? There are no real board shops near me and some people tell me i should and some people tell me i shouldn’t, i’m a newb and i dont really know anyone who boards so im figuring all this stuff out on my own thanks:)
