Kevin Backstrom, a Swedish snowboarder, content creator, and founder of Beyond Medals, has been hailed as stylish by just about everyone who has seen him ride. It's this very style that has allowed him to maintain his status as one of the industry's top performers, even though he didn't follow the traditional path to success. Shortly before the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Kevin was let go from the Swedish national team, a development he regards as one of the most advantageous occurrences for him, his brand Beyond Medals, and his teammate Tor Lundstrom, who stood by his side in solidarity.

In Kevin's early days on the snowboarding circuit, competition was the primary route to garner attention. However, he now observes a shift in this landscape, attributing it to social media and the emergence of content creators as alternative methods for aspiring athletes to capture people's interest and secure sponsorship deals. In a world where social media often receives criticism, it's heartening to hear of instances where it provides an alternative avenue to success in sports, especially given today's exceptionally high standards where only the most exceptional talents manage to break through.
