Right now, Salt Lake City is like a ghost town. That is not entirely true, but since SLC is considered the mecca for professional snowboarders (which I can attest to the truth of that) and a ton of said professional snowboarders are in Japan right now, it certainly feels that way. All my friends are in Japan. Mia Lambson, Katie Kennedy, Stefi Luxton, Kelsey Boyer, Christine Savage, Caley Vanular, Parker Szumowski, Sam Taxwood, Nik Baden, Scott Blum, Keegan Valaika, Todd Richards, Joey Fava. Why?
Well, I can tell you why. Japan is getting SO. MUCH. SNOW right now!!! And although we have experienced a good storm here in Salt Lake City recently and so has Colorado, California, and even the East Coast at this point, there is no place to ride powder like Japan. Well, at least that is what they tell me. I have never been there. Maybe some of my friends will take me next time... ;)
