Kläppen Snowpark in Sweden has just revealed their Autumn Snowpark, scheduled to launch on October 5th, 2023.

In a recent video that has surfaced the web, Henrik Björk, the park's operations manager, is seen beside a substantial heap of snow preserved from the previous Spring. By covering the residual snow from the last season with large white tarps, the resort managed to conserve enough snow to construct Kläppen's pre-season snowpark featuring 14 features, with only a 30 percentt loss due to melting over the summer.

Over the past month, we've witnessed early season closures, following delayed starts, in Australia, and a permanent closure of a French resort due to Europe's low snow years. It seems inevitable that resorts throughout North America will soon commence their seasons with carefully groomed tracks and scattered snow formations adorned with rails to entice skiers.

We are forced to ask... Could this method of snow preservation, pioneered by Kläppen, be the blueprint for the future, allowing resorts to extend their seasons?
