One of California's most popular ski resorts, Mammoth Mountain, has not only reached but surpassed a significant snowfall milestone. Officials report that over 300 inches of snow have blanketed the resort since the season began, with more than 12 inches falling overnight leading into Thursday.

This impressive accumulation ensures that Mammoth's ski season will continue through at least Memorial Day, May 27. Officials are calling this recent snowfall in the Eastern Sierra the "first wave" of a spring storm cycle that could deliver even more snow to the resort over the upcoming weekend. Additionally, part of this storm system is expected to bring wet weather and cooler temperatures to Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire, and Orange County.

This snowboard season at Mammoth Mountain started early, opening in November, just 100 days after the previous ski season ended. That previous season lasted into August, thanks to a record-setting 700 inches of snowfall.
