According to a recent analysis of Google search data, the top five states with the greatest enthusiasm for snow sports in the United States include two in the Northeast and three in the West. Snow Season Central, a platform specializing in ski resort job opportunities, examined online search trends for over 6,000 ski-related keywords from November 2022 to October 2023. The analysis aimed to gauge each state's passion for snow sports and determine whether skiing or snowboarding held greater popularity.

The study revealed that, on a per capita basis, Vermont, Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah, and Montana emerged as the most snow sports-obsessed states. Conversely, states in the South, namely Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Mississippi, exhibited the least interest in winter sports.

Here are some key findings from the analysis:

• Vermont claimed the top spot with a per capita snow sports search volume of 356,126 (per 100,000 people), a remarkable 638% higher than the national average.
• In stark contrast, Mississippi's search interest per capita was 97% lower than Vermont's.
• Nationally, 61% of searches were related to snowboarding, while 39% pertained to skiing.
• Vermont led the way with the highest proportion of skiing-related searches, while California dominated in snowboard-related searches.
• Notably, none of the three most populous states—California, New York, and Florida—made it into the top 10 snow sports-obsessed states.
