Redesigning a…

Hey everyone….Just bought my first ever board from Ebay and it’s kinda a cheesy board but it was $40 with shipping with bindings so not a bad deal for being brand new to the sport but I was hoping to hmm make it look a little cooler I was just wondering if anyone has done it before if they had any tips. I read a few things…sand it down etc etc but I don’t wanna ruin the board obviously
