The Slash the Mass Banked Slalom took over Snowmass on Sunday, March 24th under super snowy conditions. Some 160 or so riders turned out for the race, which was held in a zone called Garrett Gulch next to the Sheer Bliss lift, on Snowmass Resort.

Kids of all ages were sending!

The event brought out throngs of community riders, families, kids, and pros alike.

Mick Dierdorff, who hails from Steamboat Springs, and competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, won the men’s open/pro division with a time of 2 minutes, 2.19 seconds.

Morris Hogan going full send.

He held off Aspen’s Morris Hogan, a past winner of the race, who had a time of 2:02.51, a margin of less than a second. Boulder’s Jake Black blasted his way into third with 2:03.74.

Aspen’s own, Jordie Karlinski, claimed the win for the women’s/pro division. Her winning time of 2:09.20 was less than a second better than Laura Hadar, another local, and was last year’s winner. Breckenridge’s Darien Giedd placed third with 2:22.08.

The course was long, and a little tricky.

The course was a filled with banked turns, and ultra steep banks near the very end, making it a pretty long, and challenging course. The weather also factored into the times, as it was puking throughout the entire contest.

It was dumping all day, with free refills.

It was a great community event, and we’re already looking forward to next year!

This guy might not have made it on the podium, but he’s still a winner in our book.
