In the middle of the season, Stevens Pass Resort in Washington, has just announced their new parking reservation system through a very long Instagram post. Not to worry though - this new parking reservation system will not be implemented until next season.

Stevens Pass has made it apparent to let their shredders know that parking remains a key priority for them, while putting an emphasis on carpooling. Based on what they have learned this season, the new parking reservation system includes certain lots during weekends and peak periods that will include a combination of free and paid options, with a focus on carpooling incentives.

The idea is that it helps to reduce the uncertainty of securing a parking space during our busiest days. During non-peak weekdays, 100% of the lots will remain free and first-come first-served. On weekends and peak periods, 67% of their total parking capacity will remain free and first-come first-served. The reservations-based parking program will account for 33% of their total parking capacity and will be implemented on weekends and peak periods in Lots G, A, B & E. Reservations for vehicles with 4+ occupants and vehicles with a single adult and two children ages 12 and under will be free. Guests who do not meet the 4+ carpool requirement will have the option to make a reservation for $20.

All reserved spots, whether carpool or paid, will be held until 10am, with resort discretion to hold spots longer due to road conditions and other operational variables. Proceeds from paid parking reservations will be reinvested into the arrival experience at Stevens Pass.

Stevens notes that this plan allows their guests to choose their own arrival experience, whether it’s securing a spot in advance with a reservation or utilizing one of the free first-come, first-served lots. It sounds like they are definitely trying to do what is best for the user experience.
