Along with all of the usual cautions we take when riding in avalanche terrain, we have a unique one to consider when it comes to naturally triggered avalanches….Seismic Activity! Yesterday, a magnitude 4.3 quake struck the Mt. St Helen`s area and multiple aftershocks in the 3 range have been occurring. USGS has not determined if these quakes are simple fault quakes or indicate an increase in volcanic activity under the mountain.
