Binding Model: Nidecker Team

Binding Size: Large

Stance and Angles: 21.5 18 Negative 15 Goofy

Boot Used: K2 Thraxis

Boot Size: 10

Board Used: Arbor Westmark Rocker

Rider Weight: 195

Location: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: Cold, overcast, with firm corduroy, and zero wind.

Binding Adjustability: Standard quick release tabs on the heel and toe, pop down toe adjustment, and a forward lean tab.

Straps: The heel straps are plush and cut out to conform to your boot. They lock you down that’s for sure. The toe strap is a big generic with its cut out and I found I rocked it more over the top than over the toe. They worked but they’re so meh.

Ratchets: The ratchets work, the release tab on the heel could be longer. Also having a press down toe release vs a tab is kind of counter intuitive.

Highbacks: They’re highbacks they work there isn’t anything great to say about them. The one downside was they had a bit of forward lean built in that caused them to give a little calf bite.

Binding Flex: More like lack of flex. The wider platform on the baseplate creates such a dead spot on the board that you have to leverage your body to the outside or inside drastically to get them to flex. It’s not a stiff binding by any means it’s just a wide platform that forces you to really drive from the outside.

Ride: Ever ridden a binding from the late 90’s or early 2000’s? Yes? Perfect you’ve ridden this then. These bindings are just so generic and basic there’s nothing special to the ride.

Rider in Mind: Someone that is clearly European and knows the Nidecker name.

Personal Thoughts: FUCK THESE THINGS! The platform is so wide that even with a 10 I probably should have gone to a medium and that’s still suspect with the sizing. The base tray is just super wide and creates such a dead spot. It made my Arbor Westmark just feel super dead, which if anyone has ridden that board knows it should be playful. These things actually minimized the drive you could put into the rocker on it. Overall not impressed and found the Carbons to be a better binding from Nidecker.
