Conditions: Sunny blue skies, colder temps, perfect corduroy, basically a perfect day to rip groomers and ride the park.
Flex: There’s been a slight tweak to the flex pattern in this board which gives it a bit more torsional flex than in years past. What you do have over all is a board that is on the stiffer side of middle of the road. There’s a little bit of play in the rocker zone in the tips, then it stiffens up from there to the middle of the board where you’ll notice that it’s a bit softer.
Stability: Overall this board maintains the stability it’s known for. This is a board for charging hard and not worrying about what’s in your path. You won’t get bucked around but you might just skip over uneven terrain rather than absorb it.
Ollies: This board has snap. You load up the camber section which activates the rocker section and the board pops. Don’t hesitate to send it with this board.
Pop On Jumps: Here’s where this board shines. It’s designed for jumping and boosting off the lip. There’s nothing it can’t do off a jump, transition, or bank.
Butterability: This board does take a bit more to leverage the flex point in the tip and tail. You have to know exactly where it is and how to get yoru weight over it to do what you need it to do. Be prepared for it to have some rebound and pop out of anything you’re doing.
Jibbing: Much like buttering you have to know where the sweet spot is in this board and how to get it to lock in. Once you’ve mastered that it’s just a matter of calculating your speed and knowing the feature you’re hitting. Getting sideways on a feature this board will hug the rail or box due to the camber between the feet.
Carving: This board grips and rips. It’s one of those boards you can push into and it will stay locked in but still slingshot you out of the carve. Short tight quick set up turns or long drawn out carves it’s got you.
Rider in Mind: High end park rider that wants a slightly stiffer board.
Personal Thoughts: I’ve had a mixed reaction with this board over the years. Too stiff, too aggressive, have to bring your A game, etc. etc. With one minor tweak to the torsional flex that changes it. This board becomes more enjoyable and something you can rail turns with but still hit a jump or jib a rail with ease. Is it for lower level riders? No, but that’s where the regular Jibsaw comes into play.
