Conditions: A mix of high level clouds and sun with mild wind, colder temps, and about 2 feet of fresh snow.
Flex: Full directional all mountain above middle of the road flex. Softer nose that takes a long while to progressively get stiffer under the front foot. From the mid point between the insert packs back to the tail it gets even stiffer. There’s a fair amount of torsional flex which makes this board more nimble than you would think for its size.
Stability: The size makes this board super stable under foot. that longer nose and rocker zone is the one spot you’ll notice some chatter and flap. It doesn’t resonate back under foot. In rutted out terrain the board gets bounced around due to its size but does not wash out.
Ollies/Pop: This board has moderate snap to it. You do have to aggressively load it up and even then it’s all rider dependent. But look at the size of this thing, it’s not designed to send it into the air with ease, it’s supposed to fly off cliffs and drops.
Butterability: No.
Carving: Here’s where this board shines, you can rip turns with it. Those long swoopy carves that take you from one side of the run to the other just let you glide from one side of the trail to the other. The edge to edge transmission is solid and this board does have a lot of drive out of the camber zone, but you don’t have to aggressively load it up.
Rider in Mind: Someone that wants to turn and slash some pow.
Personal Thoughts: I swear this thing is just a reshaped Jones Lone Wolf. But that doesn’t really matter because even for being a 174 it rode smaller. This board was optimal for wide open pow and just doing slashy turns in deep snow. On a groomer it carved well and really let you finesse your turns.
