Board: Marhar Sasquatch

Size: 158

Camber Option: Camber All Mountain Directional Power. Camber 2.0 with a flat section before the rocker in the nose or the upkick in the tail.

Bindings: Rome Black Label

Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy

Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10

My Weight: 200lbs

Resort: Loveland Ski Area

Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, cooler temps, zero wind, corduroy, chunder snow, ice, lumpy snow, and every kind of preseason condition imaginable.

Flex: This board has a full directional flex to it and it’s just below a middle of the road all mountain flex. What you get is a nose which is immense that’s softer then it stiffens up through the front insert pack back to the tail. There’s an abundance of torsional give. This year they softened this board up and you notice that right away.

Stability: This board for being wider and called the Sasquatch you would feel it would be stable, nope it’s very lively. You get a lot of chatter in that nose that resonates back into the front foot. In rutted out terrain this board gets knocked around and you feel everything. At speed those micro vibrations just resonate into the front foot. Under the back foot is ab it more stable but not by much.

Ollies/Pop: The camber profile is easy to engage and you get snap from it when you load it up. This is a board you don’t have to hesitate with launching off something whether a roller or a side hit.

Butterability: That nose is a giant platform for locking into a press and getting weird. With its set back stance you just have this giant flat area to play around on that makes it easy to butter with. On the tail you want a little speed and to just crank it as fast as you can.

Carving: This board rolls from edge to edge with ease, you’ll notice that you control it more underfoot than out at the tail due to the camber profile. This gives it a loose turn initiation and on ice you can feel it slip out. As you drive the turn or carve underfoot it locks in to a point but is quick to be kicked out in variable terrain. Overall if the snows right it will carve well but if it’s icy be prepared for it to not feel locked in.

Rider in Mind: Big footed directional freeride guy.

Personal Thoughts: They should not have softened this board up. It becomes far too chattery at speeds and doesn’t have the same precision and control it used to. If you want it to be a party board then sure this makes total sense, but to me this should be something that comes with more control behind it.

Comparable Boards: Libtech Stump Ape, Bataleon Party Wave +, Ride Superpig
