Binding Model: Rome 390 Boss

Binding Size: M/L

Stance and Angles: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy

Boot Used: K2 Thraxis

Boot Size: 10

Board Used: Rome Warden

Rider Weight: 200lbs

Location: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: A couple inches of heavy pow on top of man made chunder, ice, corduroy, with zero wind, and overcast skies.

Binding Adjustability: You have your standard features with the flip cams on the toe and heel straps for adjusting length. There’s the forward lean adjustment. Toe ramp/footbed adjustment. And you can move the heelcup forward and backward to center the binding on the baseplate.

Straps: The heelstrap is that new age rubbery plastic that contours to the boot but never stretches or breaks down over time. This gives it a solid heel hold and keeps you locked in. The toe strap has a giant cutout which will fit most boot shapes. It does a good job of working to keep the pressure over the toes and keep you locked down.

Ratchets: The ratchets are smooth like butter. You never feel like they can’t climb and they release perfectly when you want them to.

Highbacks: It does its job and it’s there for you to power into but. At the end of the day it’s the highback and has a good shaping to match the back spine of most boots and cradle the back of your calf.

Binding Flex: The overall flex has a middle of the road feel to it. You have the ability to tweak when you want but it still retains power. When you drive on the outside of the binding the heelcup keeps you locked in rather than let you tweak it way over which once again as I stated gives it more power.

Ride: The overall ride is predictable. You know what you’re getting with this binding and it feels smooth and consistent.

Rider in Mind: Park rider that wants power over tweakability as well as a binding that can handle the whole mountain.

Personal Thoughts: I used to own a pair of 390 Bosses back in the day and it was one of my favorite bindings. This binding feels very similar to that one with more upgrades across the board. The nice thing is the power to flex ratio on it and how it feels like a binding that can do it all but won’t hinder you when you ride any differing terrain.
