Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, zero wind, 6 to 8 inches of light snow that turned into heavy snow as the temps raised from cold to super warm. This caused there to be a lot of chunder everyone’s favorite thing. The runs were perfect corduroy to full on chop.
Flex: Just looking at this board you can tell you’re going to get your standard directional flex. Slightly softer nose that stiffens up mid way back to the front insert pack and progressively gets stiffer towards the tail. There is a decent amount of torsional flex. The best way to rate this board is slightly stiffer than a middle of the road freeride flex.
Stability: 90% of this board is smooth and stable, it’s just the nose that gets knocked around and you feel everything when it impacts it. Those shockwaves resonate back right to your front foot. Otherwise this thing plows through everything with ease and doesn’t get knocked around.
Ollies/Pop: The snap is there if you load the camber up but it’s a directional freeride pow carver so you can’t really expect it to be the snappiest thing out there.
Butterability: The nose locks in for pow butters and just holds on and lets you butter through with ease. The tail is best suited for high speed wheelies.
Carving: With the spooned out tips you get a quicker initiation on a turn. It rolls in smoothly and keeps that fluid motion all the way out of a turn. On edge you feel locked in and this board cuts through everything in its path. When you lay it over you notice how it starts the turn right outside the front foot and then transitions to powering from inside the front foot back through the tail. When it’s on edge you can micro steer it from directly underfoot. This thing rips on edge whether you’re doing short quick carves or deep hard aggressive ones.
Rider in Mind: Resort pow rider that has to ride groomers to get to the goods.
Personal Thoughts: I just wanted to get on this board to update the review and it didn’t disappoint. There’s been some tweaks to it since the last time I rode it and you can feel that with the spooned out tip shape. Overall it’s still a consistent powder board that rips on a groomer.
