Binding Size: Medium

Stance and Angles: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy

Boot Used: K2 Thraxis

Boot Size: 10

Board Used: Telos Mike Ranquet

Rider Weight: 200lbs

Location: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, warm temps, moderate to high winds, chop, chunder, slush, lumpy snow, and lumpy end of day groomers.

Binding Adjustability: The highback has their forward lean block as well as three placements for rotation. The toe strap has a double pin placement to move it forward or backwards to center it. Both straps feature a twist cam to lengthen or shorten them. Then you can swap out the drive plates if you so desire. That’s it.

Straps: That heel strap is really thin and has next to no material in it. This means all the padding is coming from the boots. The toe strap has a tighter cutout which will limit what boot shapes it will contour over, but the nice thing is that it’s a soft rubber so you can probably stretch it over a more snub nosed boot.

Ratchets: I had these stick a little bit when I was first getting them on. So be aware of that. As the day progressed they got a little easier. They do climb well and disengage as expected.

Highbacks: This thing is soft and I mean soft. There’s a lot of give to it. The forward lean block is easy to adjust as needed.

Binding Flex: SOFT. This is a beginner binding through and through. This felt like a rental binding. There’s a ton of give in it in all directions. Even for having a regular sized disk that didn’t impede the lateral flex.

Ride: Hope you like feeling everything underfoot. This is a real lively binding.

Rider in Mind: Beginner or price conscious jibber.

Personal Thoughts: Oh my god I haven’t been on a binding this soft in ages. I had so much play in it that it just decreased the control of the board. You feel everything with it. If you’re just starting out it’s fine. Also what’s up with the heel strap ladders on Bent Metals being extra floppy even when I cranked the screws? They just get in the way.
