Conditions: Overcast skies, grapple snow, wet dust on top of crust, firm fast spots to full on braking snow, chop, chunder, and a ton of wind.
Binding Adjustability: The straps have twist cams to lengthen or shorten them. The heel strap is also reversible so you can change it from stiffer to softer. The bushing on the baseplate are able to be swapped as well. Finally you have the forward lean adjustment on the highback.
Straps: The heel strap is super soft and flexible and also reversible if you want to make it more surfy or more powerful. Even in the powerful setting it’s still soft. The new toe strap Jones is using works perfectly to cup the toebox of the boot and lock it down.
Ratchets: They do their job and do it well enough. What more do you want when it climbs and releases?
Highbacks: This is the softest highback in the Jones lineup. It has a ton of give to it. When you push back into it on a heelside carve you can feel it give before the stiffer section at the base connects. It has a ton of lateral play.
Binding Flex: This is the softest binding in the Jones lineup and has a ton of flex regardless of what setting you put it in. Yes you do get precision and power out of the base tray due to the Hangar 3.0, but overall it’s still a really soft binding. The nice thing with the softer straps is it gives you some serious lateral play which seems to lack in all their other bindings.
Ride: The ride is really lively and not damp. You feel everything with it and while it does have the bigger hangar for the base tray it still lets you feel everything.
Rider in Mind: The super surfy guy that wants a soft binding.
Personal Thoughts: The base tray is the stiffest part of the binding but overall it’s just super surfy. I mean SURFY. It has a ton of play and lets you just tweak however you want. This is a total powder day binding in my opinion because of this.
