Conditions: Overcast skies, flat light, moderate winds at time, cooler temps, frozen snow, ice, corduroy, heavy pow, death cookies, and chunder.
Binding Adjustability: There are not a lot of adjustments on this binding. You have twist cams on the straps to lengthen or shorten them. Then there’s the forward lean adjustment on the highback. That’s it.
Straps: The straps are super soft to begin with that needs to be mentioned. The toe strap is thin and has a tiny cut out which is more suited to fitting a pointy tipped boot. The heel strap is molded plastic and rubber. It’s very minimal in design and makes your boot give the padding instead of it being on the strap.
Ratchets: The ratchets are a cheaper plastic which makes me wonder if they’ll survive in the long term. They did climb well and released with ease. My biggest gripe is the heel ratchets one finger quick release is almost nonexistent and the toe ratchet doesn’t even have this. Make them uniform and functional.
Highbacks: They’re functional. There’s nothing to these though you’ll notice right away how minimal they are. What’s nice is they have a true zero forward lean. The FLAD does it’s job and works flawlessly. They’re also not as soft as you would think.
Binding Flex: This binding is soft and I mean soft. It’s a jibber or price conscious riders dream. The straps have a ton of flex, the binding has a ton of flex, and while it gets the job done you just notice that there’s no power out of it when you’re trying to drive a snowboard.
Ride: This is a real lively binding meaning that you feel everything. Zero dampening so if you have foot issues you might want to look elsewhere, but if you want to know what’s going on underfoot then this is ideal.
Rider in Mind: Jibber or price conscious beginner.
Personal Thoughts: This isn’t a bad binding for what it is, but it’s a pricepoint binding and it reflects that with the lack of adjustability. You can feel everything with this binding and that’s to be expected. At the end of the day the nice thing is there’s less features that could have things go wrong. My only potential issue is the ratchets seem kind of weak.
