Size: 160

Camber Option: Setback camber with a long nose rocker. S camber basically.

Bindings: Rome Black Label

Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy

Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10

My Weight: 200lbs

Resort: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: Overcast skies, blowing wind, cold temps, 6 inches of pow, chunder, ice, chop, and crap under the fresh, plus some frozen to soft groomers.

Flex: This board is a little above middle of the road in terms of a powder freeride flex. You get more play in the nose that stiffens up midway to the insert pack and it retains that flex pretty much to the tail where it gets a little stiffer. The torsional flex is noticeable but not overly abundant.

Stability: This board is fairly stable. You get a little chatter at high speeds in the nose and there will be a little flap but it never fully resonates back underfoot. In choppy terrain the middle of the board will hammer through it but you may feel some jarring hits.

Ollies/Pop: There’s a little snap in this board but nothing mind blowing. Load up the camber profile and roll back on the tail to get it to engage, it’s got enough to keep you porpoising in fresh pow or launching off a roller but as stated it’s nothing special.

Butterability: I’ll be honest, I didn’t even try a pow butter on it, I was too busy smashing pow.

Carving: There’s a slight delay in the edge to edge roll of this board but that’s to be expected. When it does get on edge it locks in and holds on. You can really drive this board from inside the back foot giving you extra power as you exit a turn. When you want to lay it over, go for it. This board can handle just about any carve you put at it within reason.

Rider in Mind: Pow loving swallowtail guy.

Personal Thoughts: This boards predictable when you get on it. It’ll plow through fresh snow with ease, doesn’t get too bucked around in rutted out terrain, and floats well. There’s not much more to ask for in a mini swallowtail like this.
