Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, zero wind, warm temps, choppy snow, chunder, slush, and firm fast or soft and creamy corduroy.

Flex: The rocker zones in the tips are the softest part of this board and you’ll notice that they have some give, but from where they start through the middle there’s not a lot of flex. The torsional flex matches that. All in all I’d say it’s past a middle of the road all mountain freeride flex.

Stability: The tips flap at high speeds due to that rocker and that slightly resonates back underfoot. Through the middle is the most stable section and it just plows through chop and chunder when it’s soft. When it’s rock hard it more or less skips across the top and you do feel some of the more abrupt hits but it’s not the most aggressive.

Ollies/Pop: The camber profile on this board acts like a springboard and it just launches you into the air. Load the cambered section up, roll back on the tail, and watch as it gets you into the air. It does take a little extra effort to load up but it’s well worth it.

Butterability: Get your weight out on those tips that are rockered and press into them. While not the easiest to lock into it does do a decent enough job to lock in and press. It’s like a spatula in the snow due to the shaping so you can get a little weird.

Carving: This board can carve that’s for sure. It has a fluid edge to edge transmission and lets you leave a trench with it. Now as I did get a sample I had one that was actually hooky which is weird for this board. I got that to dissipate after a few laps, but right out the wrapper it was hooky. Especially under my back foot, it just seemed to want to kill me. Once that subsided I felt that it didn’t lay over on edge as aggressively as years past, it would lock in and let me carve, but not lay a trench.

Personal Thoughts: So I know this was a sample and I went and looked at it from all angles to figure out what was going on with that hooky feeling under my back foot. Near as I can tell is that it might have been slightly twisted coming out of the press, this happens to boards, usually when it’s a sample and it’s rushed. I’ve ridden this board enough to know to that’s not how it should ride.
