The LAAX Open is a premier snowboarding event held annually in the Swiss Alps, and it just wrapped up this weekend. Recognized for its world-class competition and top-ranking venue the LAAX Open attracts top athletes and fans from across the globe. The LAAX Open hosted some seriously amazing competition this year, and we must say we are not super surprised with who the winners are. But we are hyped!

Japanese rider Mitsuki Ono took home the gold for women's halfpipe. Epic run!!

Australian snowboarder Scotty James took home the gold for men's halfpipe. Not super surprised by that one, quite frankly. 

Competitive snowboarding is a unique time for athletes to showcase their skills on some of the most major venues in the world. The events included under the umbrella of "competitive snowboarding" generally consist of slopestyle, halfpipe, and snowboard cross. In order to win, judges assess style, difficulty, execution, amplitude and other factors. The LAAX Open is one of the best of the best snowboard competitions.
