Waxing issues

I’ve finally started learning how to wax my own boards lately, but have run across a few issues every once in awhile. I’ve done a few boards without any problems, but sometimes when I start scraping off the wax there are a few sections that crack and flake off instead of pealing off. It’s almost like those base sections didn’t absorb any wax at all
